Expect downtime, delays, and then greatness!
Well, we're moving servers and data storage methods. I'm going to work on porting the website to run on Google's AppEngine. We shall also be changing from the current, temporary by design, flat file system, to Google's Datastore system. After this change the website will be 500x (rough estimate) faster!

Rss!
We now have really simple syndication!

Calendar Updates!
The calendar is done, any user can now add events, each event has it's own page of information, the Upcoming Events page shows all known events!

CSS Upgrades, Removed some Javascript, and More!
I did a few more site upgrades, the calendar should now look correct in any browser. I removed some JS, substituted it with python. We now have OS specific and browser specific style sheets. To make sure everything looks right everywhere (which it doesn't) but I'm working on it.

Module Caching Issues
We are having module caching issues, essentially, because I am actively developing the site, some issues exist. As the server caches the modules I write for better performance. When I update a module it can take up to 24 hours to clear the cache, if you get an error, try refreshing a few times. If that doesn't work, report it to me.

All Accounts Need To be Recreated!
Sorry about this, but a small technical mishap resulted in the loss of all stored information for users. As a result, I ask you to re-register for the site. Same process, except I rewrote much of the backend. No human intervention is needed anymore. After filling out the form, you should be automatically emailed, with the password you enter.

Sorry about this,
Abe Haskins

Added Calendar and Ads
I added a calendar under the Upcoming Events section. people will be able to post new events onto the calendar, so anyone can go and see when we have meetings and such. As of now, events have to be entered by hand (i.e. not through the web interface), and the only information the calendar shows is the day the events are on, not time or any more detail. In other words, right now, it is not too useful, but hopefully, I will write most, if not all of the rest of it by the meeting on Thursday.

The second update, I have added Ads on this page in the right column, whether or not they will stay, I don't know. They could generate some revenue for the club, but they might be seen as annoying. Or they may be replaced with something else. We'll sort it out.

I also did some general bug fixes on the site, and fixed some graphical errors.

Downtime
I'm working on rewriting some parts of the site, if you get any unexpected 404 errors, try refreshing or give it a minute.

Thanks for the cooperation,
Abe Haskins

BLAST OFF!

That's right! This website, is now our website. Complete with a domain name (Gatewaycpu.org, don't use the old URL any more) Some features still need to be implemented, rest assured I'm working round the clock to bring them to you! Today, October 19th 2009, is the official launch date of the first ever (I think) GCPU website!

P.S. Websense unblocked us, yay!

We've been blocked...
If you try accessing this website from Gateway Tech School, it will probably get caught by websense. We are currently working out why this is happening. It should be resolved soon, let me know if you managed to get to Gatewaycpu.org from the school, thanks!
